EDIFICA, the International Construction Trade Fair, returned to its 2022 edition, with a special focus on the sustainable growth of the industry, generating spaces to learn about technological advances and different initiatives that will help improve the productivity of companies, the operation of projects, as well as contribute to overcoming the housing deficit. The inauguration of the exhibition was headed by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric; the ministers of Housing and Urban Planning and Public Works, Carlos Montes and Juan Carlos García; the president of the Chilean Chamber of Construction, Antonio Errázuriz; and the general manager of Fisa, Francisco Sotomayor, among other public and private authorities. The Construction Fair will be held between October 4 and 6 at the new largest fairground in Chile, Parque FISA, located on Route 68 kilometer 16, in the Pudahuel district. During the inauguration, President Boric reaffirmed, in relation to housing matters, the commitment to meet the goal of 260,000 houses during his term. “We know it is an ambitious goal, but with the collaboration of the public and private sectors, we are going to achieve it”. For this reason, he assured that, as a government, it is expected to “substantially shorten delivery times by up to 30%, and give greater certainty to families who expect a space of their own where they can live safely and with dignity, and enjoy their privacy”. At the meeting, President Gabriel Boric highlighted the work materialized in the recently presented Budget Law 2023 and emphasized the relevance of security as a concept in it. Meanwhile, the president of the CChC, Antonio Errázuriz, highlighted the government’s willingness “to find effective responses to the problems that are affecting us”, given that, he said, “the construction industry is going through complex times”. Along these lines, he valued the government’s willingness to find answers together, which has been reflected in different measures of the sectoral ministries and some of the contents of the pro-investment plan, especially the state guarantee for housing and the increase in the budget for public infrastructure works. EDIFICA 2022 During this new version, Edifica will have more than 300 exhibitors. In addition, there will be an open-air space where live construction demonstrations will take place during all the days of the Fair. On Wednesday, October 5, the First Study on the Characterization of Women in Construction, carried out by the School of Engineering of the University of Chile and the Chilean Chamber of Construction, through the Women’s Commission, will be presented. In addition, on Thursday, October 6, the meeting will focus on sustainability and environmental care. In this context, it will be possible to learn how circular economy models are implemented in construction sites through waste management. Part of this experience will be reflected in a permanent exhibition of entrepreneurs dedicated to waste management, who have managed to give them new life, creating products such as chairs, tables, terrace games, among others. Edifica 2022 will be open to the public until Thursday, October 6, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The organization of the fair has also provided free shuttle buses from the intermodal station Pajaritos, with round trips from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. Press contact: Cristián Larraín +56952087993
