Positive balance of the new edition of Expo Andes 2022

For three days the fair hosted around 70 exhibitors presenting brands from 20 different countries, both private and public, which exhibited the latest trends and solutions for the mountain industry. Friday, October 14, 2022.- Today ended the only international meeting of the mountain industry in South America, Expo Andes 2022, a space designed for commercial exchange and debate on the advances and challenges that are currently presented in the industry globally. In its 6th version, the meeting had more than 70 exhibitors and over 150 brands from 20 countries, offering a commercial and strategic exhibition space with the latest trends and technological solutions in the industry. In the exhibition, Expo Andes stood out with tactical products for the high mountain, including clothing and equipment for low temperatures, carabiners, climbing equipment, and specialized technology to prevent avalanches. Given the importance of providing safety to people and professionals in the field, the fair also presented rescue equipment, including drones, stretchers, special ropes and mountain rescue systems. In addition, a series of services, products and technological advances for winter centers and mountain parks were presented, such as high mountain shelters, special modular structures, explosives for avalanche control, snowmaking systems, specialized software and access controls for ski centers, among other things. The exhibition was attended by public and private institutions, which took advantage of the occasion to promote mountain tourism, highlighting the main tourist sites in Chile and the Metropolitan Region, showing their potential in Chile to stimulate growth and the creation of new jobs in the mountain world. The manager of Expo Andes, Emily Aubert, said that “we are happy to have had in this version with a large portfolio of exhibitors who presented high-level mountain and snow equipment, which demonstrated the importance of development and innovation in the industry. We also had an important participation of professional visitors and executives from private, academic and public institutions related to the industry, which shows the interest to continue developing the sector”. 2022 CONGRESS Parallel to the exhibition, the Expo Andes 2022 International Congress took place, which analyzed the problems and solutions of the mountain world. In six panels, distributed during the three days of the fair. The first panel, called “Political Forum on Mountain Territory Management”, was led by the mayor of Lo Barnechea, Cristóbal Lira, and the general manager of the Andes Santiago program, Martín Le Bert, and was moderated by Helen Kouyoumdjian, Executive Vice-President of Fedetur. This was followed by the panel “Natural Risk Management in Mountain Areas”, which addressed the dangers and threats in hills due to natural causes, such as earthquakes, avalanches, rockslides, avalanches, volcanic eruptions, and floods caused by lake overflows, among others, and the various alternatives for dealing with them. The event was moderated by the general manager of Nuevas Vías, Arturo Rocco, and was attended by the Metropolitan Regional Director of ONEMI, Miguel Muñoz, and the Head of Geological Hazards and Land Use Planning, Sernageomin, Mónica Marín, among others. Also addressed were issues related to the challenges of mountain tourism today, with the topics “Trends, innovation and technologies for tourist destinations”; “Overviews and prospects for investment in mountain destinations”; “Prospects and investment opportunities in mountain tourism in Chile”; “Enhancing the value of the mountain: conservation and outdoor activities”. And others such as “Cable transport: a sustainable mobility solution” and “Access to mountain destinations”. In this regard, Emily Aubert, Manager of Expo Andes, pointed out that “during the Expo Andes 2022 congress, we will deal with matters related to cable transport, continuous improvement in mountain operations, public-private collaboration for the management of destinations, sustainability and climate change, access management, rescue and natural hazards, among others. All in a rich program of lectures that were presented by authorities and experts in the field and were discussed in depth to find solutions to current conflicts.” “I want to thank all those present who were part of this new version of Expo Andes 2022. After months of confinement due to the pandemic, the snow and mountain industry, both national and international, has the challenge of reactivating the sector.
