On Friday, December 2, ExpoNaval 2022, the largest naval and defense industry meeting in Latin America, closed its doors, presenting a rich program focused on innovation and naval and maritime development. The fair, held at the Terminal de Pasajeros Puerto Valparaíso, showed in four days of exhibition a wide offer of the naval and defense industry. In addition, it presented in two days the International Congress “The Challenges for a Maritime Condition in the 21st Century”, with the participation of more than 10 speakers and panelists from America and Europe, both from the public and private sectors, with great trajectory and experience in the naval world. The congress, which analyzed relevant topics for the defense industry, presented two panels: “The relevance of being a maritime power”, and then “Chile and its National Ocean Policy: Are we a Maritime Power? It also presented spaces for conferences, in which “Challenges of shipbuilding and its contribution to the national industry” was highlighted. “Always this fair has allowed us to add value to a lot of processes that we carry in the institution (Navy). Normally this type of meeting is held in different parts of the world, and the fact that it is held in Chile allows more sailors to participate, ask questions and be aware of the latest in technology,” said the general director of the Navy Services, Vice Admiral Pablo Niemann. For his part, the executive director of ExpoNaval, Rodrigo Lobo, said that “the meeting gave the naval industry the opportunity to meet again, to have important activations and meetings with authorities in the field, recognized worldwide. We are happy to have carried out this 2022 version, delivering an international congress and exhibition space that was highlighted by both visitors and exhibitors of the exhibition”. Lobo also emphasized that “in the context of public policies, ExpoNaval 2022 served as a showcase to disseminate naval and maritime advances. The meeting closes this year with the participation of more than 5,000 visitors, who analyzed and discussed in depth the importance of development and innovation in the naval and maritime industry, issues that are the key to advancing the sector’s capabilities with a view to the future”. ExpoNaval, organized by Fisa of Grupo GL events with the support of the Chilean Navy, boosted meeting tourism, achieving an important impact on the local economies of the Valparaiso region. Likewise, the event expects to continue delivering high-level international fairs and congresses, seeking to boost trade, and to be a contribution to the economic reactivation of the country through new business and the interconnection between the various economic areas, both nationally and internationally. PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS The exhibition of companies and public institutions, as well as the program of international lectures related to the present and future of the naval industry, sought to contribute to the economic development and maritime safety of the participating countries, providing solutions for the correct naval operation. Regarding ExpoNaval, the Ambassador of the United States in Chile, Bernadette Meehan, congratulated FISA for the successful organization of the 2022 meeting. “We are very grateful for the welcome given to our Navy and the collaborative AVANTE Challenge project. We would also like to congratulate Kallman Worldwide for the excellent U.S.A. Pavilion, which offered U.S. companies the ideal platform to showcase their products and services, and do business.” Similarly, Alberto Robles, Vice President of Airbus, indicated that “as always it has been a pride and honor to participate in ExpoNaval. We are traditional in this fair being present since the first edition, and I consider that its 2022 version has been a success, good luck to the organizers. Count on us for the next edition. Additionally, Fernanda Muñoz, Project Manager of the Athena Lab Foundation, said that “as a think tank that generates content related to security, defense and international relations, we can say that our experience in this meeting has been really good, and that the organization has been excellent. This year we have organized part of the conferences with important exhibitors, and we are delighted to have participated for the first time in this meeting. We hope to continue collaborating in future versions, to show our work”. Finally, Luis Kohler, corporate commercial manager of Asmar said that “in ExpoNaval 2022, we presented everything related to naval construction, showing the models of the products we have built. In addition, we had the model of the Icebreaker, which we will launch at sea, and which will be delivered to the Navy in 2024. In that sense, we have had many visits related to shipbuilding, which we appreciate, and our intention is to continue participating in ExpoNaval. We hope to see you in 2024”. EXPO NAVAL 2024 In view of Chile’s role in the naval industry, the event managed to promote innovation, provide tools for its development in the country, and contributed to the relationship between companies, boosting the creation of direct and indirect jobs that are produced around the fair. In this context, and in view of the importance of the event at regional and national level, Rodrigo Lobo announced the new version of ExpoNaval 2024. “Today, at the culmination of the largest naval fair and congress in Latin America, and after having the participation of high authorities from various countries of the world, we can affirm that Chile will be able to continue growing strongly and offer an important development at local and international level. This is why we announce the future version of ExpoNaval 2024, inviting all companies and individuals to be part of it”. PRESS CONTACT: Cristián Larraín Tel. +569 5208 7993 clarrain@fisa.cl
