-The mining exhibition will be held between Monday, April 24 and Thursday, April 27 at the new fairgrounds, Parque Fisa. -The international congress includes 14 seminars, more than 100 panelists from government, industry and companies from 30 countries. -In its new version, the meeting will address topics on innovation, development, sustainability, competitiveness, employability, gender equity, productive efficiency, renewable energies, digitalization and safety, among others. Expomin, the largest mining fair in Chile and Latin America, will open its doors next Monday, April 24, at the renovated Parque Fisa exhibition center, located in the Pudahuel district of Santiago. The XVII International Exhibition and Congress will be positioned as a commercial platform of high impact on the economy, which will gather more than 70 thousand visitors, both representatives of public administrations and the private sector. The fair will cover 95 thousand square meters with 1,200 exhibiting companies, projecting US$ 1.8 billion in business generation. It will host a market of great economic potential, together with public, academic and private institutions, presenting advances in technology, innovation and human capital, Chile being one of the most attractive countries for foreign investment. Expomin will be held for the first time at the largest fairground in Chile, Parque Fisa, according to its executive director Francisco Sotomayor “we have high expectations for this 17th version of Expomin, starting with the fact that the world mining center and the 35 participating countries are for the first time in a new venue: the Santiago International Fairground in the district of Pudahuel, which is Chile’s connection to the world due to its proximity to the airport and the Valparaíso Region”. And he added “we are very pleased to inaugurate this fairground, the largest in Chile, which we hope will host thousands of major national and international events in its 250 thousand m2 of extension with more than 7 thousand parking spaces, 7 minutes from the international airport and close to a hotel zone, and with excellent connectivity to highways and roads, which undoubtedly is a great contribution to the development of meeting tourism in our country and to the fair industry”. In this new version, Expomin will have the important participation of mining companies: Codelco, Teck, Antofagasta Minerals, Freeport-McMoRan, BHP, Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), Angloamerican, Candelaria, Sierra Gorda, Collahusi, Albemarle, Goldfields and Barrick. Startups This year, taking strength in its role of corporate social responsibility at the level of Fisa and Expomin, and together with the Ministry of Mining, ProChile, Alta Ley and Sonami, Expomin will provide space for 40 national startups related to the mining industry in the Mining Pavilion, a meeting place for large mining companies where they can present their products, services and innovations, so that they can relate to the industry and see business opportunities, giving possibilities for growth and development. With the presentation of new technologies, equipment and industrial development, the exhibition will highlight the presence of companies related to energy transition, environmental care, mining safety and community outreach. International Congress The XVII International Mining Congress, organized by Fisa of the GL events Group, and which will be led by Amparo Cornejo, Vice President of South America Teck, will have an extensive program of activities with active participation of mining companies, government panelists, senior industry representatives and key institutions that are part of the mining ecosystem. Expomin’s seminars and talks will allow for the exchange of information from the sector, which will present projects, operations, opportunities and challenges in Chile and the region. “We will have a large international congress that we know will contribute to the transfer of knowledge and experiences, being an incentive to the growth of the industry. This year we will have more than 100 experts from public and private institutions, covering various topics that will contribute to the future of mining. The congress will cover the main strategic issues of the sector, among them, Mining in the Region, Mining Challenges; Sustainability Trends and Socio-environmental Issues; Energy Efficiency in Mining: Reducing our carbon footprint; Circular Mining: Technologies oriented to waste management; Desalination Technologies: Environmental Impacts and Opportunities; Sonami Responsible Sourcing Committee; Presentation of copper-related projects; Presentation of Lithium, Gold and other projects; Exploration Challenges; People Development, Inclusion and Gender Equity; and Digitalization and Cybersecurity in Mining. Among the main panels, Panel 2, Challenges in Mining, will be held on Monday, April 24, with the participation of the Minister of Mining, Marcela Hernando; Iván Arriagada, CEO of Antofagasta Minerals; Rag Udd, President of BHP Minerals Americas; Amparo Cornejo, Vice President of South America TECK; CEO Collahuasi Jorge Gómez; and Patricio Hidalgo, Executive President of Angloamerican; Rag Udd, President of BHP Minerals Americas; Amparo Cornejo, Vice President of South America TECK; CEO Collahuasi Jorge Gómez; and Patricio Hidalgo Executive President Angloamerican, a panel that will be moderated by Joaquín Villarino, Executive President of the Mining Council. This panel will address the future scenario of our industry and will focus on talking about the pending issues that we must resolve to achieve the mining of the next 30 years.
